- 270 grams / 270 grams Canned tuna drained
- 6 tbsp / 84 g Mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp / 15 g Mustard paste
- ¼ cup / 33.25 g Cucumber finely diced
- 2 tbsp / 20 g Onion finely diced
- ¼ tsp / 1.5 g Salt
- ¼ tsp / 0.5 g Black pepper crushed
- 2 tbsp / 29.57 ml Lemon juice
- 2 tbsp / 0.8 g Coriander finely chopped
- 2 slices / 2 slices Bread for each sandwich
- 1 tbsp / 14 g Butter (Softened) for each bread slice
To start with drain your tuna first so that it does not have any excess water. Ensure no single drop of water remains in the tuna at all. This is important because if there is too much water in it, you will have a watery filling for your sandwich which may end up being soggy. When properly done through a fine mesh strainer, I feel like using this method to extract liquid from the tuna can be easier by applying pressure gently using the backside of a spoon. In a bowl place drained tuna, mayonnaise, cucumber, and chopped onions then stir until evenly mixed.
Season with salt and pepper and add a little lemon juice to it then mix well. Mix them till everything incorporates nicely into each other. At this point, I like to taste my mixture and adjust the seasoning according to taste.
Add some finely diced coriander into the mixture and stir again thoroughly.
Take 2 slices of bread for each sandwich
Spread 1 tbsp of softened butter on one side of a single bread slice. Repeat the same process for another slice of bread
Spread one slice of bread with tuna mixture then cover with another one. The addition of butter lends richness to the sandwich while complementing the flavors of the filling.
Cut it diagonally and serve the scrumptious tuna sandwiches with crispy fries
