Dry Ingredients
- 4 tbsp / 30 g All-Purpose Flour
- 2 tbsp / 10 g Cocoa Powder
- 2 tbsp / 24 g Granulated Sugar
- ¼ tsp / 1 g Baking Powder
- A Pinch Salt
Wet Ingredients
- 3 tbsp / 45 ml Whole Milk
- 2 tbsp / 30 ml Vegetable Oil
- ½ tsp / 3 ml Vanilla Essence
Filling and Garnishes
- 2 tbsp of Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips or Chunks
- Powdered Sugar Optional
- Chocolate Sauce Optional
Add Dry Ingredients
Measure out 4 tbsp of all-purpose flour and 2 tbsp of Cocoa Powder and add it to the mug.
Sprinkle ¼ tsp of baking soda, 2 tbsp of granulated sugar, and a pinch of salt over the flour mixture.
Use a fork to mix the dry ingredients thoroughly until no lumps remain.
Mix In Wet Ingredients
Pour 3 tbsp of milk and 2 tbsp of vegetable or neutral oil into the mug.
Stir in ½ tsp of vanilla essence into the mixture.
Mix the batter well until it’s smooth. Scrape the edges and bottom of the cup to ensure that no ingredients get stuck there.
Add Chocolate Chunks
Place 1-2 small chunks of semi-sweet chocolate, or you can use 2 tbsp of chocolate chips in the center of the mug.
Gently press the chocolate just slightly into the cake batter. Make sure the chocolate is partially submerged but not pushed all the way to the bottom.
Microwave, Serve and Enjoy!
Place the mug in the microwave and cook it on high power for 1-2 minutes, depending on your microwave. Once the cake rises to the top and looks set, the lava cake is done baking.
Carefully remove the mug cake from the microwave and let it cool for 5 minutes.
Dust the top of the cake with powdered sugar or chocolate sauce, and get ready to dig in with a spoon while the delicious chocolate lava is still hot!
