Are you missing some flavor in your regular mayo? Let’s turn up the heat and enjoy a delicious twist on the classic mayo with my spicy mayo sauce recipe! Also, called Sriracha Mayo, it is creamy, spicy, and tangy simultaneously- you’ll be obsessed with it.

Mayonnaise is one of my top choices when it comes to preparing quick and tasty snacks. When you are in a rush and need a quick way to put together a meal, a dollop of mayo might be a game-changer!

Whether you are spreading it on a sandwich, stirring it into a wrap, or using it as a base for other sauces and dips, mayonnaise has the power to turn a simple dish into a flavorful, rich meal.

While the classic mayo does a decent job of adding creaminess to dishes, it falls short when I am craving a little extra kick. For moments like these, I turn to my spicy mayo sauce- an upgraded version of classic mayonnaise with just the right amount of heat!

With a few extra ingredients, spicy mayo sauce has quickly become my go-to condiment. A drizzle of spicy mayo sauce on my sandwich, sushi rolls, french fries, burgers, or even plain old veggies doubles the flavors! This versatile dipping sauce goes well with just about everything and takes any dish to the next level with minimal effort.

Easy Ways To Customize Homemade Spicy Mayo Recipe

Before diving into the recipe, let me just say- this sauce is just a base, crafted to my preference. Each of us has our own unique definition of what tastes good and you might want to adjust the recipe according to that.

Whether you want it spicier, creamier, or a little bit on the sweeter side, here are some simple ways to customize your spicy mayo to fit your taste:

Spice Level

With 1 tbsp of sriracha sauce, this mayo recipe is quite spicy. If you prefer a milder version, reduce the amount of sriracha or any other hot sauce used in your mayo.

In case you aren’t satisfied with the spiciness, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a drizzle of hot chili oil to the mayo mix. Be careful not to overdo the spiciness, as it can quickly overpower the other flavors in the mayonnaise. Start with a small amount, taste and then decide if you want to turn it up to the next level.

To enjoy different flavors in your spicy mayo, try using other types of hot sauces, including Chipotle hot sauce, Sambal chili paste, Frank’s RedHot, and Habanero hot sauce.

Savory

Adding savory flavors to the mayo helps add depth to the sauce and makes it richer. Simply by adding soy sauce to the mayo, you will experience a salty burst of flavor that perfectly complements the Asian-inspired dishes. For bringing a more complex flavor to the sauce, consider adding Worcestershire sauce, which comes with a bold flavor profile. However, I recommend using it sparingly, as it has a strong taste that will easily overpower other ingredients if you aren’t careful.

Miso and anchovy pastes are two fantastic choices to add to the spicy mayo mix. They both come with concentrated flavors and help add a subtle savory taste to the sauce. For a nutty undertone, try adding a few drops of sesame oil to the mayo. If you are a cheese lover, go for grated parmesan or blue cheese and enjoy a delicious, cheesy flavor that enhances the spicy mayo.

Sweet

Too spicy for you? Not enjoying the heat anymore? You don’t need to discard the whole mayo sauce for that reason!

If your mayo mix has become too spicy, try sweetening up a little by adding sugar or honey. Instead of using regular honey, you can use flavored honey as well. My personal favorite is ginger-infused honey, which gives the mayo sauce a warm and zesty kick!

Start with ½ tsp of honey and increase the amount if you want more sweetness. After adding the honey or sugar, be sure to stir the mixture thoroughly until all the ingredients are well combined. If the sauce becomes too sweet for your liking, add a splash of lemon juice to balance out the flavor.
