It’s not only about eating; the experience of tasting the local cuisine, like a freshly made egg and cheese sandwich that’s prepared skilfully right in front of you, is simply unforgettable!
Today’s recipe is all about one such street food that’s popular in Korea and is famous for its comforting flavor: egg and cheese sandwich. And once you take a bite, you will realize why it’s such a hit among the locals and tourists!
The fried eggs stuffed with cabbages, carrots, and onion taste creamy and crunchy after being fried to a beautiful golden brown color. The veggie omelet is then sandwiched between two slices of buttered bread with cheese and a light sprinkle of sugar to add a touch of sweetness. Ingredients
- 4 Slices White Bread
- 5 Tbsp / 70 g Butter (Room Temperature)
- ½ Cup / 35 g Cabbage (Thinly Sliced)
- â…“ Cup / 43 g Carrots (Julienned)
- â…› Cup / 20 g Onion (Thinly Sliced)
- 2 Eggs
- ½ Tsp / 3 g Salt
- ¼ Tsp Black Pepper
- 2 Slices American Cheese (Sliced )
- 2 Tsp / 8 g Sugar
- Tomato Ketchup
- Yellow Mustard/mayonnaise
Instructions
Prepare Bread and Vegetables
- Spread butter on both sides of the bread slices and keep them aside.
- Then, chop the cabbage, onion, and carrot(julienne) and set aside for later use.
Cook The Eggs
- Combine the egg, cabbage, carrots, and onion in a jug/mixing bowl. Add salt and pepper and mix everything well.
- Heat a skillet or nonstick pan over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of butter to the pan, then pour in the egg mixture, trying to give it a rectangular shape.
- Cook until the bottom is fully cooked, about 2 to 3 minutes. Then, cut the omelet in half and flip it over.
- Cook the other sides well, about 2 to 3 minutes, or until fully cooked. Take it off the pan when both sides are fully cooked.
Toast The Bread
- Now toast the buttered bread slices on the same pan (about 1-2 minutes on each side or until golden brown)
- Once both sides of the bread are golden brown, place the cheese slice and the omelet into one bread slice.
- Then sprinkle 1 tsp sugar on top of the omelet and add ketchup and mustard right on top (you can adjust the amount of the sugar, ketchup, and mustard according to your preference).
- Cover with another slice of toasted bread. Repeat the same process for the rest of the bread slices.
Serve and Enjoy!
- Slice the sandwich in half and serve it with a glass of fresh juice for a delicious breakfast. Enjoy!

- You can also add a slice of ham to your sandwich if you like, as it often served with sliced ham. But ham and cheese both are optional for this sandwich.
