While mayo and sweet chili sauce are great on their own, they lack the unique blend of flavors that make the Bang Bang sauce unique. With a dash of sriracha, it brings a spicy kick to the sauce that balances the sweet chili and cuts through the richness of the mayo. The added heat from sriracha is often toned down by a touch of honey, creating a smooth, delicious blend!

Why Is It Called Bang Bang Sauce(Bonefish Grill Copycat)?

The name ‘Bang Bang’ may seem weird or even a bit funny for a sauce, but there’s a reason behind it!

This sauce has delivered a bang of delicious flavor since a long time ago. Popularized by an American chain restaurant ‘Bonefish Grill’ specializing in making seafood, this bang bang sauce was served with one of the restaurant’s appetizers, Bang Bang shrimp.

The creamy and spicy sauce gained a lot of good reviews and became famous within a very short time. Now, the restaurant is no longer open, but the sauce has made such a remarkable mark that it is still very much alive and enjoyed by different parts of the world with slight adaptation to local tastes.

The Versatility Of Making Homemade Bang Bang Sauce

Bang bang sauce is more than just a dipping sauce! With the sauce’s versatile characteristics, it’s used in a lot of different ways to spice up your meal. Here are some creative ways to use bang bang sauce:

Topping

Bang bang sauce works wonderfully well as a topping for rice bowls, pizza, and tacos. The balanced flavor of the sauce compliments your dish with its sweet and spicy elements. The creamy texture of the mayo and the spicy kick from the sriracha pair beautifully with savory dishes that need a little extra layer of richness and heat.

To enjoy the sauce in its best form, add the sauce as a finishing touch so that it doesn’t get absorbed and retains its full flavor.

Grilled Meat

The creamy mayo and sweet chili sauce complement the charred flavors of grilled chicken, juicy steaks, and barbecued prawns. The sriracha packs a subtle heat that goes well with the smokiness of the grilled proteins and adds a hint of warmth to the entire meal.
